7 Exceptional Points in the Elliptic - Hyperelliptic Locus

چکیده
An exceptional point in moduli space is a unique surface class whose full group of conformal automorphisms acts with a triangular signature. In this paper we determine, up to topological conjugacy, the full group of conformal and anticonformal automorphisms of a symmetric exceptional point in the elliptic-hyperelliptic locus in moduli space. We determine the number of ovals of any symmetry of such a surface. We show that while the elliptic-hyperelliptic locus in moduli space can contain an arbitrarily large number of exceptional points, no more than four are also symmetric.

An exceptional point in the moduli space of compact Riemann surfaces is a unique surface class whose full automorphism group acts with a triangular signature. A surface admitting a conformal involution with quotient an elliptic curve is called elliptic-hyperelliptic; one admitting an anticonformal involution is called symmetric. In this paper, we determine, up to topological conjugacy, the full...
متن کاملThe Class of the d-elliptic Locus in Genus 2
We compute the rational Chow class of the locus of genus 2 curves admitting a d-to-1 map to a genus 1 curve, recovering a result of Faber-Pagani when d = 2. As an application, we compute the number of d-elliptic curves in a very general family of genus 2 curves obtained by fixing five branch points of the hyperelliptic map and varying the sixth.

Abstract. The locus of genus-two curves with n marked Weierstrass points has codimension n inside the moduli space of genus-two curves with n marked points, for n ≤ 6. It is well known that the class of the closure of the divisor obtained for n = 1 spans an extremal ray of the cone of effective divisor classes. We generalize this result for all n: we show that the class of the closure of the lo...

The band structure of the Lamé equation, viewed as a one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with a periodic potential, is studied. At integer values of the degree parameter l, the dispersion relation is reduced to the l = 1 dispersion relation, and a previously published l = 2 dispersion relation is shown to be partly incorrect. The Hermite–Krichever Ansatz, which expresses Lamé equation solution...

The following divisors in the space Sym12 P1 of twelve points on P 1 are actually the same: (A) The possible locus of the twelve nodal fibers in a rational elliptic fibration (i.e. a pencil of plane cubic curves); (B) degree 12 binary forms that can be expressed as a cube plus a square; (C) the locus of the twelve tangents to a smooth plane quartic from a general point of the plane; (D) the bra...
